From where to where?

○ in Japanese newspapers and books, the most common way of writing is in the column form, from right to left and from top to bottom. That means, the books start "at the back" and the pages are turned from left to the right.

○ besides that, the horizontal way of writing is used too. It is read from left to right just as the same way we read.
